120: The Manhole at GFW reopens

Last night I attended the reopening party for the Manhole club at GFW (Gay Fun World), which had been a pet project of the late Avacar Bluestar. The club was shut down for a while out of respect for his memory -- as DJ Sasch said last night in the voice channel, no one felt like partying for a while, but

everyone was clear that the continued existence of the club was what Avacar would have wanted. So his partner Ricogenu Bluestar has returned it to the clubbing schedule, with the enthusiastic support of his good friend, well-known blogger Ryce Skytower.
   If last night was any example, this will be a VERY popular club -- at one point I counted 46 residents in the room and

there were never fewer than 35. I have to apologize for not being able to name everyone present and take a close-up, as is my usual practice these days. The room was super-crowded, I was lagging badly, and more worried about crashing than usual. I decided to settle for mostly long shots, and you'll know if you were there ;-)  Last night's music was provided by DJ Sasch, hosting by Rico,

and the dancer was Patrick [patrickdevonanderson], and the theme was "Masters and Slaves".

118: The Manhole is reopening

The Manhole at GFW (Gay Fun World) is returning on Monday, March 2. I was happy to hear that Rico Bluestar is reopening this popular location and hosting the event. 110: The Celebration of Life for Avacar Bluestar

Today marked the Celebration of Life for Avacar Bluestar, hosted at the Greymyst Estates, and broadcast over SL Radio. SLebrity blogger Ryce Skytower-Aquila and Avacar's widower Ricogenu Bluestar also shared hosting and production duties. It started with a concert by singer Phemie Alcott (which unfortunately I had to miss due to RL commitments) and then

   I've been looking forward to this event for a couple of days and I wasn't disappointed. Ryce Skytower told me that they had raised more than L$60,000 for the American Heart Association, which is a real achievement; congratulations to all concerned, including the donors. Evan

It was a little eerie for me, who never met the gentleman, to hear his voice over SL Radio. 107: Saturday, February 7; A Celebration of the Life of Avacar Bluestar

I'm happy to echo my fellow bloggers and friends Eddi Haskell / Ryce Skytower and Bock McMillan (click on their names to see their blog posts) and remind you of a Celebration of Life event for the late Avacar Bluestar. It will be held at the Rose Garden at Greymyst Estates II beginning at 1 PM SLT. Your SLURL is here. From 1 to 2 SLT, Phemie Alcott will be performing at a special memorial concert; 2 to 4 SLT, DJ Thorn Andel and host Esme Capelo will be hosting a dance party. I'll be at both events as best I can manage; I expect to see Avacar's partner Ricogenu Bluestar and his good friend Eddi Haskell there.
